Gearóid Mcdaid is a professional surfer from Strandhill, County Sligo, and the reigning 2025 European Shortboard Surfing Champion. Introduced to surfing as a child by his father, he turned competitive around age ten and landed his first sponsors at fourteen, eventually building it into a full-time career. He splits his career between competitive shortboarding and big-wave surfing at Mullaghmore, one of the world's most significant big-wave breaks. With his sights on the 2028 LA Olympics, Gearóid competes at the World Surfing Championships in Peru this November.
